Shepherd’s Huts were introduced in the 19th Century when shepherds would travel with their flock of sheep, away from habitation.  The idea was borne out of the necessity for the shepherd to have somewhere to sleep, eat and store his equipment and equally important, that ‘somewhere’ had to be mobile, in order to go with him.  The Shepherd’s Hut was his home away from home, with an open-plan combined living area.

‘Cwtch’ (pronounced cutch like butch) is a Welsh word meaning ‘cuddle’ or ‘snuggle’, but even those translations don’t quite cover the meaning…  A ‘cwtch’ can also be a small place where things are stored safely.
Our Cwtch may not suit everyone, but for those who enjoy experiencing something ‘a little different’, be it a romantic break or just getting back to nature, we believe that this really is an opportunity not to be missed!

The Shepherd’s Hut stands alone in the corner of a field with panoramic views over the countryside and has outside seating and a BBQ area.  Horse B&B is also available and dogs are welcome by arrangement.  Prefer a different location?  Look at other hut ‘The Bolt Hole’.

The internal dimensions of the hut are 11’ x 6’4”, so not the largest of areas, but we believe that we have made the best use of the space, creating a cosy and relaxed atmosphere.  There is a double bed that folds out at night and acts as a seating area at other times, a foldaway table and two chairs.  Hooks on the wall are provided for hanging garments.

A log burning stove in the corner of the hut can provide heat, if required.

We must insist on absolutely no smoking and no naked flames in the hut, due to the nature of its construction.

A standpipe is provided outside, for fresh, cold water.  Basic electricity is installed in the hut to run lighting, boil a kettle and charge your phone. There are no other services inside, but a shower and toilet are available in the livery yard, as is the use of a communal kitchen with kettle, hob, microwave and sink which is suitable for making basic meals, hot drinks and washing up.  Please note that you will need to supply your own crockery and cutlery.

The Shepherd’s Hut has its own fire pit nearby, with a tripod which you can use to cook over the wood fire. On a clear night, you can snuggle up to the warmth of a fire and stare up at the stars. Logs can be bought from us, as and when required.

As you can see from the map, we are only a few minutes drive from the gorgeous beaches of Rhossili: Rhossili Bay, Fall Bay and Mewslade whilst Oxwich Bay and Port Eynon Bay are about 10-15 minutes away.

Please note that guests must supply their own bedding and towels or arrange in advance to hire them at an additional cost.

Quiet, simple, beautiful. Very peaceful.

Lovely shepherds hut in great location close to Rhossili. Hut has great views over Gower, and log burner ensured the hut was very warm and cosy. Would highly recommend.

Amazing place: stones throw from the stunning worms head and Rhossili beach. Will be back.

We booked the shepherds hut for one night. We enjoyed our stay at this place, a good retreat from the city lifestyle. Hosts were friendly and helpful. The place itself was lovely, with all the things you might need for your stay. The view was peaceful and romantic, I could stay there for a year. Thank you for this wonderful experience, we definitely would recommend to everyone who loves nature and beautiful horses to visit this place.
