Local Amenities and information
Gower was the first place in Britain to be named an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With cliffs and woodlands ringed by sparkling beaches, the Gower peninsula is so adored by walkers, birdwatchers, sunbathers and surfers, it’s been scooping awards ever since.
Delvid Stables is located close to Llangennith village, where there’s a church, a surf shop, small gym in the community hall and a pub, which has an outdoor seating area and serves food throughout the day. Nearby, Hillend has a camp shop and a Café, Eddie’s, serving good quality food. There is a well-stocked country co-op in the neighbouring village of Llanmadoc where you will also find a very good pub/a well stocked local co op, with a post office, that serves tea and home made cakes. The other neighboring village Reynoldston has a post office with longer OPENNING hours and essentials like bread, milk, wine etc.
There are 3 fine restaurants on the Gower, my favourite being “The Brittania In Llanmadoc. The Guardian published an article about food on the Gower you might read FOOD where to go and what to try during your stay.
We are happy to arrange for some essential items such as milk, tea and coffee to be at the cottage on your arrival. Please contact us for more details.
The local area provides plenty activity in the great outdoors– walking, climbing, fishing, surfing, clamming, horse riding, kite surfing and sailing are a short list of activities on offer. The less energetic can enjoy lazing on the beach, reading, painting or relaxing in the local pubs. The City of Swansea and the pretty Village of Mumbles are only half hour drive away offering cinemas, theatres, and many excellent restaurants. There is an well stocked covered food market in Swansea with wonderful fish mongers, butchers to buy famous salt Marsh lamb, bakeries, cheese and fresh vegetables Plus Sainsbury’s & Tesco’s who will deliver groceries to Delvid Stables at your convenience. I suggest you book your delivery early on in the summer.
