The Sands, known locally as ‘Slade’ beach is a vast expanse of sand and rock pools surrounded by cliffs, at the Eastern end of Port Eynon Bay. At very low tide it is possible to scramble over the rocks from The Cove into The Sands, but it is advisable to keep a close eye on the tide at all times. A footpath runs along the bottom of the cliff from Horton to Oxwich and up to the hamlet of Slade. There is no obvious footpath down to The Sands from this.

Facilities include:

  • toilets (by The Cove)
  • suitable for water sports

The cliff path leads East around Oxwich Point to Oxwich Bay or West to The Cove and Port Eynon Bay.

Tour the Gower Coastline:
Go clockwise | Go anticlockwise
