Accommodating up to 5 adults, the cottage features an ‘upside down’ layout to make the most of the stunning open countryside view upstairs. The ground floor comprises of a twin bedroom with ensuite and a double bedroom – both of which have French doors leading out onto a paved area – as well as a single bedroom and family bathroom.
An open plan layout upstairs with two further sets of French doors with Juliet balconies make the most of those countryside views. A fully equipped kitchen that includes an induction hob, microwave, full-sized fridge freezer and dishwasher; leading from the kitchen a utility area features washing machine and tumble dryer. A generously proportioned dining area with table and chairs is adjacent to a sitting area benefiting from a log burner, comfy sofas, and a smart TV with Sky.
Private parking is available for 2 vehicles and the cottage is adjacent to the owners farmhouse.
The walled cottage garden is a haven for enjoying the serenity of the cottage’s location and is also perfect for those summer BBQ’s and includes a grassed area for those who don’t leave home without the dog!
A stone’s throw from the cottage is the bridle path which leads down into ‘hidden’ Bishopston Valley and its limestone caves, underground rivers, and ancient woodland before opening out into Pwll Du Bay, one of Gower’s most beautiful and secluded beaches and a notorious smugglers route until the early 1800’s.
In the other direction and just half a mile on foot from the cottage is Pobbles Pizza (takeaway only), Gower Deli, Pennard Stores, The Cliff Restaurant and Three Cliffs Coffee Shop – a great place to stock up on essentials and enjoy a coffee or something to eat before or after your cliff walk. From there you can access the coastal path which takes you to Pobbles beach and the picture-perfect Three Cliffs Bay.
Southgate also has the Southgate Club and Pennard Golf Club, both of which offer great coffee to dining options and are open to non-members.
The cottage is let on a Saturday-to-Saturday basis during school holidays, whilst stays of a shorter duration are welcomed outside these dates.
Fabulous location near beaches and walks. The house was fully equipped with everything we needed. Jon was very welcoming of us and our dogs and had plenty of local knowledge. 3 good sized bedrooms and a lovely wood burner. Fabulous place would definitely book again.
We have just returned from Hael Farm Cottage, Jon is a super host and always contactable for anything you need. The cottage itself is lovely and ideally situated within walking distance of some stunning walks , local cafe/shop and pub. Everything you need is in the cottage and a lovely welcome hamper was also left for us. Would highly recommend.
The most idyllic and wonderful accommodations. Jon was a great host full of wonderful advice and we loved every minute of our stay at Hael Farm Cottage! It was so perfect, thank you so much! We loved playing soccer in your fields and meeting Alfie!
We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage. It was very homely and cosy. The welcome basket from our hosts was a nice touch with all the basics and wine! All amenities were there including a dish washer and tumble dryer. The setting was beautiful with walks from the cottage with wonderful views. Our hosts Jon and Julie were friendly and very helpful. Look forward to another visit.
We had a great time staying on Hael Farm on the beautiful Gower peninsula! Hael Farm is at the end of a track so was quiet and had a countryside feel. We could see the cows in the adjoining field, and hear the sheep and birds. We met Jon and he made suggestions like eating at the local Golf Club which had good food, and ideas for local walks. Jon also passed in beans and apples which he had grown in his garden. There was a shop within walking distance (or park nearby). We also got ice creams from the same place on a couple of occasions. We also had take away pizzas from nearby (make sure you order before). We went to a number of the local beaches that had lovely sand, like Caswell Bay & Oxwich Bay. Be aware of the narrow roads when travelling around the Gower. We did a number of walks along the coast directly from the property (some of the tracks are quite steep). Jon was able to provide a cot, high chair & stair gate for our granddaughter. A great holiday!
Gorgeous cottage. We are use to upside down living in our own home so the lounge upstairs just helped us make the most of the lovely views over the neighbouring farm. Spotlessly clean with modern decoration and comfy beds. Our little dog was made welcome and John was on hand as he lives next door, yet respectful of our privacy. Gorgeous little welcome hamper which was very much appreciated. We truly loved it. Local village amenities included smashing village shop and cafe which served a lovely breakfast. Also a pizza takeaway that was amazing. We certainly felt chilled and relaxed, the peacefulness meant we all slept so well!
