The Store sleeps 2 in a double bed up ‘sleeping pod’, there is a sofa bed downstairs so the property can sleep 4. There is an additional charge for each extra person of £40 a night.

The Store at Mewslade Cottage is a self contained unit with separate entrance an attractive and private courtyard area within the garden. It is located at the end of the Gower peninsular has off-road parking and is 5 minutes walk down a lane to beautiful Mewslade beach, 10 minutes walk to wonderful Rhossili. It has a low double bed up narrow stairs in a lovely roof space  with a fantastic view over the fields (not standing height), a kitchen and dining area that opens out onto the courtyard through bi-fold doors, a separate room with high quality  sofa bed & TV and a shower room with large walk in shower.

Once the village’s grocery store,  a garage and surfboard store/workshop this has now been given a high grade conversion by the owners who are trained in interior design and construction. Extremely well detailed it features a full height living space lit by the gable end bi-fold doors and triangular window. Recycled wood is used a lot to create an inviting but clean and crisp living space.

The kitchen is one single run along wall of the living space with a marble top and integral fridge, oven, induction hob and waste management. The living room is warm and cosy with a large sofa bed that it easy to pull into the bed, internet TV connected to Netflix and other on demand channels. Walk in large shower with WC and basin. The property has its own efficient heating and hot water. Outside areas are private with a well established and cared for garden.

As well as the living area, sitting room/sofa bedroom, upstairs sleeping ‘pod’ and shower, you also have a brick paved area in front of the bifold door with slate table and chairs. There is also another more secluded patio area linked by a path through the garden that gets the evening sun and has a chiminea for your own use. There is your own parking space right by the gate into The Store garden which is off the road.

We are more than willing to give advice, tips and pass on our love of where we live. However, we feel that we can gauge when people want privacy and can equally let you just get on with it yourself. Between us we have a wealth of knowledge of the area, its hidden gems and quieter walks. We surf, kayak, fish, crab, spearfish, cycle, run, walk, paint and garden so can give advice on many subjects if you need it, just ask. Anna is fluent in French and Italian.

At the tip of the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Beauty and Site of Special Scientific Interest Middleton and Rhossili are joined linearly and under a mile from end to end. The Store is in Middleton, close to small beaches of Fall and Mewslade. Rhossili is where the famous 3 mile long beach is and so also has a National Trust car park and shop, a couple of Cafes, a pub with a great view and mostly residential homes.

The Store is about 200m from the cliff path and the cliffs are owned and maintained by the National trust but still farmed. As well as the beach Rhossili Hill is of interest and is Gower’s highest point with spectacular 360 degree views over towards Pembroke , the Black Mountains, Swansea and down to Lund and Hartland point. It joins Rhossili at the southern end of the beach with Llangennith at the northern end and boasts neolithic burial stones and the remnants of a WW2 listening station.

Its quiet and sleepy out of season but busy on sunny days in summer. The areas main economy is farming and tourism but Rhossili has been luckier than many of Gower’s beach-side villages and hasn’t got any holiday chalets static caravan sites such as at Oxwich, Port Eynon, Horton and Llangennith.

Rhossili is on a regular bus route from Swansea that varies through the year but there are seven buses a day in summer linking us with Swansea and going via the southern beaches. Swansea is on the rail line with a high speed train to Paddington via Cardiff and Bristol and also links to the mid and west wales lines.

The bed upstairs in the roof lovely space is very comfortable and a great place to sleep, light and airy with views out over fields. It is however worth noting that there is not full height for standing and the bed is the standard 2 metres long, but not good if you are very tall (see photos). The Store is ideal for two, but can accommodate three or four (using sofa bed, which is big and comfortable). It is a non-smoking property but you can certainly smoke outside, we don’t allow pets sorry.

Since October 2023 new fire regulations have been brought in and this means we must now make you aware of the emergency escape route for the sleeping area on the first floor. This is through the top opening Velux escape window and onto a purpose made steel ladder and may not be suitable for some who aren’t able bodied, who are older or who lack mobility. If you require more details then please ask.

We also offer B&B for two people at ‘The Wedge‘.

The Store Reviews

My husband, little daughter and I stayed here for almost a week and had a great time. The place has been beautifully built and decorated (most of the work having been done by the hosts) and had everything we needed for our stay. It was a little bit of a squeeze with the travel cot and all the paraphernalia that little ones come with, but that's no fault of the hosts! Anna and Jem were incredibly hospitable, even sharing some of their freshly-caught fish with us! They suggested places to go locally and were available whenever we had any questions or requests. There were incredible beaches within walking distance of the accommodation and we would highly recommend a stay here, particularly for a couple's getaway.

Ffluer - Cardiff

A great little cosy place with an amazing view of the sunrise from the mezzanine bedroom, that alone is enough to warrant a booking at this place !!

Sarath - Torquay

Simply perfect in every way - a wonderful space and even more wonderful host - this is an absolute gem…

Sarah - Bath

Our family of 4 stayed at the Store & had a great time.
It is in a great location & has some stunning walks & coves a few minutes walk away. It is very clean & modern. Well designed. Perfect for 2 but also suited us with our teenage sons. Anna & Jem were great hosts attentive but not intrusive & always available to answer any queries. We will definitely go back.

Andy - Oxford

A gem. Cosy but perfect for two people or a couple as a short stay.
Walking distance to beaches. Anna and family were wonderful and responsive hosts.

Jack - New York

Perfectly designed with a very contemporary feel but still in keeping with its agricultural surroundings.
Jem and Anna have made use of every inch of this perfectly positioned bolt-hole. A lovely east facing window to watch the sun come up over the fields. A cozy ‘cwtch’ up in the eaves provides avery intimate space that made us feel like a child sleeping out under canvas or up in a tree house. We both will be back again to see the fantastic garden in the Spring and we will miss running down to Mewslade in our bathers for a quick dip!
