  • Small pond . .
Due to the nature of the garden it is important, for their safety, that young children are closely supervised. Should you wish more information on this then please email us. Of great relevance in this regard there is an unfenced pond in the back garden .
Additional outside areas.
  • Private drive off-road parking in front of house for up to 4 vehicles.
  • An orchard, a lovely place to relax with a table and seating for two people. There are six large apple and plum trees.
  • The whole area has been planted with rhododendron, Azalea, and Heather. We mow paths through it.
  • Lots of areas are the left “wild”. This is deliberate and consequently there is a lot of wildlife in the garden. The pond acts is a magnet for frogs, newts, toads. Slow-worms, lizards and even the occasional harmless grass snake are in residence in the wild areas . In the spring thrushes, blackbirds, robins, wrens and finches all nest here, and in the summer we have a number of Buddleia bushes and we have counted up to 11 species of butterfly in one afternoon. Humming bird hawk moths are common in the summer
The grounds are completely Private with no one overlooking or able to see into them.
The beauty of this property is that it is close to the entrance to Whitford nature reserve. . The beach is 15 minutes walk away through the reserve but it is well worth it. The sandy beach is three miles long. An absolute favourite with families and dog walkers.
Wildlife wise the reserve is outstanding. The beach and estuary have large flocks of birds wintering on them and in the summer the dunes have lots of wildflowers including five species of orchids. On sunny days in the spring summer and autumn there are many butterflies

if you walk right to the tip of the reserve you will find Whiteford Lighthouse. . This was built in 1865 and is the only cast-iron Lighthouse in the country that is washed by the waves. It stands large at 13 metres. The lighthouse is three miles from the cottage. A round trip of approx 3 hours.
