My parents moved to Waitawhiti in 1968, naming it after where my mother grew up in New Zealand. At that point, it was a plain house, with fields surrounding instead of a garden, they were inspired by the seafront view. Mum and Dad were always inspired by plants, and spent a lot of their time throughout their lives making the garden into their own paradise, and subsequently a beautiful legacy; full of exotic and rare plants from all over the world, a pond (which is not fenced off) and streams, it’s hard not to enjoy the beauty.
The house has always been a family home and continues to be so to myself and my children. Growing up with pet lambs, chickens and calves around the farm, the kitchen has hand painted tiles of our pets by my mother around it.
We hope that your family will love Waitawhiti just as much as we do!
With one of the best views in the Gower, Waitawhiti offers a sense of relaxation and tranquility as soon as you arrive. The house is located within a 20 minute walk to the quieter end of the beach and a 6 minute drive to the western end with the Oxwich Bay Hotel pub, a restaurant and takeaway stall.
Alongside this, the house offers a spacious kitchen and dining area with a two oven AGA and two hobs, plenty of food storage space, a stand-alone fridge and freezer, microwave, toaster, full cutlery and dish set, a dining room, 2 sitting rooms equipped with TV’s and wood burners, 4 bedrooms – 2 king beds, one with 4 singles and a large single (sleeping 9 in total), 1 bathroom with a shower, toilet and bath, a downstairs loo also. Washing machine and tumble dryer.
Outside there is plenty of seating and outdoor eating spaces with a BBQ.
Bedding and towels are provided but NOT beach towels.
In front of the house lies the garden, and a seafront view of Oxwich Bay. Behind the house is the beautiful Cefyn Bryn which has multiple footpaths, taking you to other parts of the Gower, and also to the King Arthur pub.
There is a petrol station/shop which has a bakery inside 7 minutes drive away, and access to other shops and services is not further than 15 minutes. The house is located around 23 minutes drive from Swansea town centre.
Pets are welcome by prior arrangement and short breaks are available out of season.
